Education

Hello! I was a student at the Delft University of Technology doing my MSc in Sustainable Energy Technology. My thesis focused on Hydrogen storage and renewable energy integrated systems. Before moving to the Netherlands, I received my bachelors diploma from Lancaster University in Mechanical Engineering. I graduated with a 1st Class B.Eng. Honours Diploma in 2016. My final year project focused on tidal turbine blade design. During school I undertook the International Baccalaureate (IB) program with the following subjects: at Higher Level: Physics, Mathematics, Economics; at Standard Level: English & Greek (Language & Literature) and Environmental Systems & Societies. I am from Greece but have lived around the world and speak English and Greek fluently, as well as some Dutch. I would describe myself as easy going, patient, and communicative.

Experience

My most recent experience was tutoring a student in grade 5 for math, once per week. I find mathematics to be one of the most useful subjects that schools teach, and having pursued a degree in a science based area, math has always been of utmost importance. I really enjoy algebra and calculus, and I believe I can convey my knowledge well to someone who may not understand it to the same level as myself. I love teaching, and seeing the student leave with an understanding of something they may have struggled with before; it is very fulfilling to know that you have the ability to convey knowledge to another person and to see their satisfaction when they grasp this knowledge. So far I have only had the chance to help friends, but I would like to expand this to students still in school or early university level. I also completed the IB programme, with Math, Physics, and Economics at HL. My scores for these classes were 5, 4, and 6 respectively. A class that I thoroughly enjoyed was the Environmental Systems and Societies course, due to its relevance to the changing environment. I study Sustainable Energy Technology, and the course had me hooked on the concept of sustainability since then. I completed my bachelors degree in the UK, where I obtained a first class degree in Mechanical Engineering from Lancaster University. Subjects included mathematics, electrical engineering courses, and mechanical engineering courses in the first year. The second and third (final) year consisted of courses more specific to mechanical engineers such as structural dynamics, materials, and transport engineering. There was a lot of group work which has been nothing but useful in my communication and team-working abilities. Note: classes would need to be in English as my Dutch is not sufficient to teach in.

Hobbies

Generally, I try to keep my creative side alive by practicing various art forms. I enjoy playing and practicing music (ukulele, guitar, cajon and singing) but I will most likely enjoy playing around on whatever I can get my hands on. I practice yoga, acroyoga, and aerial silks. Bouldering is also something I do every now and again, when I have the time ! Photography was a hobby of mine in the past, playing around with digital and analogue, as well as film processing and picture printing. I love animals (2 dogs back home in Greece), horseback riding, and I did some volunteer work in animal shelters back home. In the Netherlands I discovered the art of AcroYoga, and try to involve myself in sustainable initiatives when I can find them. Any other questions, feel free to contact me! I am very easy to chat to and get along with people well.
